Love Mode, Recidivist From Tangerang Steals ATM To Girlfriend's Gold Necklace

South Denpasar Police, Bali, arrested a man named M.Iqbal Pangestu (32) from Tangerang who stole his own girlfriend's belongings named Luluk (25).

The perpetrator's mode of love scamming is by relaxing the victim's heart with false love. The perpetrator stabbed the victim's belongings, then fled to Tangerang.

"In essence, love scamming is one of the modes in cyber crime. Where the perpetrator of the crime will use a false identity so that the victim falls in love with him. After getting the victim's heart and trust by using various methods," said Head of Public Relations of the Denpasar Police, AKP I Ketut Sukadi, Friday, January 3.

The perpetrator was arrested on Wednesday (2/1) at around 03.00 WITA in an apartment in South Tangerang City.

At that time the victim who woke up was aware that his cellphone was missing. The Cannon camera perpetrators, Asus laptops, BCA debit cards and gold necklaces were also stolen with a total loss of IDR 29 million.

"For this incident, the victim reported to the South Denpasar Police for further investigation," he added.

Based on the report, the police are moving to find the perpetrators. The South Denpasar Police coordinated with the Metro Jaya Police to arrest the perpetrators.

"The motive is economic problems because while in Bali the perpetrators do not have a job. The perpetrator admitted that he had committed theft at the crime scene and the proceeds from his crimes were used for daily needs," he said.

Perpetrators and victims have known each other on social media and have been dating since November 2024. Perpetrators also often stop at the victim's boarding house.

"At that time the perpetrator was sleeping in the victim's boarding house, the perpetrator left the victim in the morning and had taken the victim's valuables and ATMs," he said.

The perpetrator is known to be a recidivist with the same case in 2022 in Jakarta. The perpetrator has been in Bali since January 2024.

"The proceeds from the sale of the victim who was used in Denpasar to rent a daily apartment. The victim found out that the perpetrator stole because last night he was together at the boarding house and the items (stolen) to the victim's ATM were also detected using withdrawing money and shopping by the perpetrator," he said.
