President Erdogan Says US Government Ignores Israel's Crimes In Gaza

JAKARTA - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said US President Joe Biden and his administration were involved in what he called alleged Israeli war crimes and international law violations in the Gaza conflict, calling for sanctions against Israel.

In an interview with74k during the summit of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Washington DC United States, President Erdogan said Israel's " brutal killing" of civilians, its attacks on hospitals, aid centers and other places constituted war crimes.

"However, the US Government ignored this breach and provided the greatest support to Israel. They did so at the expense of involvement in this breach," President Erdogan said.

"At this point, who will impose what kind of sanctions on Israel for violating international law? That's the real question and no one will answer it," he said.

Israel has consistently rejected allegations of war crimes in the battle against Palestinian militant group Hamas in the Gaza Strip. They denied having deliberately targeted civilians.

Turkey, which is a NATO member, has denounced Israel's attack on Gaza, stopped trading with it and voiced its support for Hamas. Ankara has repeatedly criticized Western countries for supporting Israel, calling for Israel to be punished by international courts.

It is known that the latest conflict in Gaza broke out after a Palestinian militant group led by Hamas stormed Israel's southern region on October 7, causing 1,200 people to be killed and 250 others with disabilities according to Israeli calculations.

Separately, Gaza's health authorities confirmed on Thursday that the death toll of Palestinians since the conflict in Gaza broke had reached 38,345 people and injured 88,295 people, with the majority of the victims being women and children, quoted from WAFA.
