Reminding The Importance Of Quality Human Resources, Vice President About PDN Hacked: His Mistakes Will Continue To Be Evaluated

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin acknowledged the importance of qualified financing and human resources (HR) for cybersecurity after the National Data Center (PDNS) 2 Surabaya was hacked by ransomware.

"I think that financing and human resources are qualified. I think it is (important). It is necessary and this is the government's commitment to continue to do where it is wrong, the shortcomings will continue to be evaluated," said the Vice President after attending the opening of the 2024 Asian Pacific Aquaculture in Surabaya, East Java (East Java), Thursday, July 4, confiscated by Antara.

The vice president said that the government continues to evaluate all problems and shortcomings after PDNS 2 Surabaya was hacked.

Therefore, the government is committed to financing according to the capacity of the state budget and is supported by the best human resources in the cyber world.

According to the Vice President, the government continues to make these efforts regardless of the statement by hacker Brain Chiper which alludes to investment and the importance of recruiting experts who have qualifications in cyberspace.

"Regardless of the hackers who said he would be like this, if this was the case, I think apart from that it would be the government's commitment, I think so," said the vice president.

Regarding the position of Head of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) and the Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) which must be evaluated, it becomes the President's prerogative because it is a political position.

"I think about the replacement, I once said that about the President's prerogative, yes, it's a political position, so I think later the President will carry out an important evaluation whether or not it is necessary," said the Vice President.

Previously, the group suspected of hacking PDNS 2, Brain Cipher, admitted that it would provide a code to disclose ransomware locked data to the government. This hacker group claims to provide a free encryption key.

In a written statement, the Brain Cipher group also reminded the government to invest and recruit competent personnel related to cybersecurity.
