As A Result Of Cyber Attacks, Minister Of Communication And Information Budi Arie Urged To Resign, Projo: When He Intensively Eradicates Online Gambling

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Pro-Jokowi Volunteers (Projo) of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, Imam Sofian, installed a body related to a number of parties who asked the Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi to resign from his position as a result of a cyber attack targeting the Temporary National Data Center (PDNS).

"We installed a body for Budi Arie who is also the General Chair of Projo," said Imam Sofian, ANTARA, Sunday, June 30.

Imam suspects that there are other motives behind the push to Budi Arie to resign, because currently the Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie is very keen to eradicate online gambling.

Imam believes that there are parties who feel disturbed because of their firm attitude against online gambling shown by Budi Arie.

"This cyber attack is the moment at the same time as the operation to eradicate online gambling, which is currently focusing on being carried out by the Ministry of Communication and Information under Budi Arie's control. It seems that there are parties who feel their interests are being disturbed, so cyber attacks arise and then push them back," he said.

Projo NTB, said Imam, will install a body to defend Budi Arie, even his party also encourages Budi Arie to be more aggressive in eradicating online gambling.

In addition, Imam also believes that Budi Arie has a chivalrous mentality, so that the Minister of Communication and Information will not recede with 'rockets' like this.

"I know very well him (Budi Aried). These are things that are still within control. And I know, Budi Arie will not be possible to leave this battlefield. On the contrary, be careful," he explained.

In addition, Imam is also of the view that the issue of cyber attacks is also used by parties who have not accepted defeat in the 2024 presidential election (pilpres).

Because, according to him, in the 2024 presidential election, Budi Arie as the Chair of Projo has a vital role to play in garnering support for Prabowo-Gibran.

"Surely (there is a relationship with the presidential election), there are still ranks of heartache, they also play this issue. The public is smart, can read more deeply regarding what happened," he said.

Imam did not deny that Indonesia's cyber resilience must continue to be improved from time to time, even though it is adaptive to the times.

"One of the things that needs budget support is that this can improve the quality of resources," he explained.

For this reason, he invites all parties to start caring for cybersecurity. According to him, maintaining cyber security is a collective task.
