Jokowi Asks PUPR To Handle Isolated Katingan Street Infrastructure

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo ordered the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (Ministry of PUPR) to pay attention to the isolation of road infrastructure in Katingan Regency, Central Kalimantan (Kalteng).

"For the continuation of road infrastructure development from Pakahi to Mendawai District, I will note it, and I will order the Ministry of PUPR to carry out checks," Jokowi said after carrying out a visit at the Kasongan Market and Mas Amsyar Kasongan Hospital as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 26.

The road infrastructure in the southern region of Katingan Regency is still isolated. There are several sub-district areas that have not been able to be connected from the center of Kota Kasongan to various sub-districts.

Especially the physical development infrastructure for the Kereng Pakahi road, Kamipang District to the Kampung Melayu Village road, Mendawai District.

Jokowi said that related to the development, the local government reasoned that the regional income budget (APBD) was not temporary for district roads, it was the regent's authority.

He added, related to the construction of road infrastructure constrained by the APBD is not enough, all districts have reasoned like that.

"So the central government has to join forces, even though it's not like that. It's okay, we'll check with the ministry later," he said.

Acting (Pj) Regent of Katingan Saiful, said President Joko Widodo asked local governments to continue to follow the existing process.

"Earlier we also conveyed to other Ministers that these activities would be pursued. Maybe later during President Prabowo Subianto's time. So what we are fighting for and what we are trying to do. God willing, we will achieve it according to our expectations," said Saiful.

He said that because the central government was able to come directly to see the condition of Katingan Regency, and had submitted information about the area of the Katingan area to President Joko Widodo.

"We have conveyed about the size of Katingan Regency with such a large area of territory, but our population is still around 7000 people. Once again what we hope for, hopefully it can be realized in 2025 during the reign of Mr. Prabowo Subianto," said Saiful.
