Even Though It Has Been Announced That Sohibul Iman In The Jakarta Pilkada, PKS Admits That The Final Decision Can Still Change

JAKARTA - Secretary of the DKI Jakarta PKS Regional Leadership Council (DPW) Abdul Aziz admitted that his party's decision to carry the Deputy Chairperson of the PKS Syuro Council Mohamad Sohibul Iman in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Pilkada could still change at the last second.

Aziz emphasized that political activities are always dynamic. Whatever the nomination decision, according to Aziz, it can still change before the registration period for regional head candidates to the KPU, there will be 27-29 August.

"Meanwhile, we support Mr. Sohibul Iman. But it is possible if I think there are changes or political negotiations. That's the case," Aziz said when contacted, Monday, June 24.

Aziz gave an example, in the 2017 DKI Jakarta Pilkada, PKS initially appointed the Chairman of the PKS DPP Mardani Ali Sera to be promoted as a Cagub DKI.

However, after a coalition with the Gerindra Party, PKS finally relented and supported Anies Baswedan-Sandiaga Uno in the 2017 Jakarta gubernatorial election.

Conditions like this, according to Aziz, are likely to happen again. This is because PKS will also still conduct a survey related to Sohibul Iman's electability in Jakarta, including comparing the level of electability with Anies.

"Certainly after this we will conduct a survey with the public. How about Mr. Anies, how about Mr. Sohibul Iman. How about paired with person A, person B," explained Aziz.

"We must be able to see the constituents, the aspirations of the community, we must calculate the chances of winning how much. It all becomes input before it is finalized in registration on August 27," he continued.

The decision of the PKS DPP to carry Sohibul Iman in the Jakarta gubernatorial election is a follow-up to the DKI Jakarta PKS DPW proposal that offers a number of candidates.

Apart from Sohibul, DPW PKS DKI Jakarta also proposed the name Anies Baswedan to be promoted by PKS in the Jakarta Pilkada this year.

DPW PKS DKI previously also met with the former Governor of DKI Jakarta on Thursday, May 30. During the meeting, PKS had Anies for his willingness to be promoted as a candidate for Governor of DKI Jakarta in the 2024 Pilkada.

The DPP did not choose Anies to be promoted. However, the DKI Jakarta PKS DPW is still ready to win Sohibul Iman to contest the DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election.
