JAKARTA - Another pickpocketing took place in the Pekan Raya Jakarta (PRJ) Kemayoran or Jakarta Fair Kemayoran (JFK) area. A visitor became a victim of pickpocketing while visiting the annual product exhibition event.
The pickpocketing incident was recorded on amateur video and viral Instagram social media. In the video footage uploaded to the Instagram account, a man in a red shirt can be seen calling himself a pickpocket at PRJ.
"It's really crowded, how come it can be snatched," said the man in the video footage as seen Monday, June 24.
"For those of you who go to PRJ, be careful," he added.
The man said that his belongings were stolen by a pickpocket, namely a wallet.
"Actually, it's okay if my wallet is lost, but actually it contains a vehicle registration certificate, a driver's license, that's the important thing, it's an ID card. How to handle it?" he said.
He said his wallet was grabbed in the front area of PRJ while jostling with other visitors.
Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro asked victims of pickpocketing at PRJ to immediately report to the Kemayoran Police for follow-up by the police.
"If there is a criminal act, immediately contact the nearest Polsek or call center 110 to be followed up immediately by police officers," he said when confirmed, Monday, June 24.
