Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Hadi Tjahjanto ensured that the officers involved in online gambling were not included in the online gambling task force.

"Not all members of the TNI and Polri participate in online gambling. The TNI and Polri leaders already know the data on anyone who plays online gambling, of course they are not involved," Hadi said during a press conference reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 19.

His party will further deploy the ranks of the task force and members of Babinsa and Bhabinkamtibmas in the region to eradicate online gambling activities.

According to Hadi, the roles of Babinsa and Bhabinkamtibmas are very important because they can easily touch people in every region.

Some of the things they can do, continued Hadi, is to anticipate the practice of buying and selling accounts for online gambling purposes and to close online game top-up transaction services affiliated with online gambling.

Therefore, the task force will provide training to Babinsa and Babinkamtibmas so that they know the mode and the procedures for taking action.

At the same time, the task force will take broad action by investigating the flow of money in the account of online gambling money collectors.

Regarding individuals who play online gambling, Hadi hopes that agency leaders can take firm action against their members who are involved in the activities of the vicious circle.

Previously, several online gambling cases involving elements of the TNI and Polri had occurred recently.

Most recently, a TNI member named Letda Rasid from the Brigif unit used unit operational money amounting to Rp876 million for online gambling.

This embezzlement of funds was revealed when Captain If Sandi as Pasi Log Brigif 3/FFB asked Rasid for the first phase of self-management funds for Denma Brigif three.

However, Rasid never gave the funds for two days (7/6). Rasid finally admitted his actions which had embezzled unit money for online gambling purposes

Rasid was immediately examined and then put in the cell to be detained during the examination process.

Head of the Army Information Service Brigadier General Kristomei Sianturi said that currently Rasid is being prepared internally.

He ensured that the TNI would take firm action against all personnel found involved in online gambling, especially using the troop budget.

"Every form of gambling, both conventional and online, is against the law and the military code of ethics. Every member who is proven to be involved will be prosecuted according to the rules and regulations," Kristomei said, Thursday (13/6).
