West Kalimantan Governor Bro Midji Reminds People To Not Go To Malaysia

PONTIANAK - West Kalimantan Governor Sutarmidji reminded the public not to visit Malaysia. The reason is that the cases of COVID-19 outbreaks are still quite high.

"Don't go to Malaysia for any purpose and in any way, because from the laboratory results of our Migrant Workers (TKI) who were deported on March 11, out of 77 Migrant Workers, 69 of them tested positive for COVID-19," said Governor Sutarmidji in Pontianak, as quoted from Antara, Sunday, March 14.

According to him, 69 Migrant Workers who were confirmed positive for COVID-19, with a high virus content (CT/threshold), some even reached hundreds of millions of copies of the virus content.

"Thus, it is estimated that the infection rate in Malaysia is still high, it could even be higher, so that our people should not go to Malaysia first for now. If there are migrant workers who are officially sent home or go home via the short cut, make sure they undergo strict isolation," said the governor who is familiarly called Bro Midji.

Separately, the Head of the West Kalimantan Provincial Health Office, Harisson, said as many as 69 out of 77 Migrant Workers who were deported by Malaysia tested positive for COVID-19 with a high viral load.

"So, on March 11, 2021, Malaysia deported Indonesian Migrant Workers through the Entikong State Border Post. They were immediately taken to the West Kalimantan Provincial Social Service shelter and the West Kalimantan COVID-19 Task Force carried out a swab and the results were surprising, in which from 77 people, there are 69 people with confirmed cases with millions of viral loads," said Harisson.

Harisson explained, of the 69 people who were deported and confirmed with COVID-19, 23 people came from outside West Kalimantan, namely from West Nusa Tenggara Province 13 people, East Java 4 people, from DKI Jakarta 3 people, from Makassar 1 people, Yogyakarta 1 people, and Central Java 1 people.

"For Migrant Workers who confirmed, 23 people who came from outside West Kalimantan are now being isolated in the isolation facility of the Provincial Health Office of West Kalimantan.

Meanwhile, from West Kalimantan, there were 46 people. They have been returned to their respective districts/cities and have been isolated in every isolation place in their area under the strict supervision of the COVID-19 Task Force in their respective areas.
