JAKARTA - Former United States President Donald Trump said he was "ok" with the possibility of serving a prison sentence or house arrest, after last week he was found guilty of the 34 charges imposed on him by a jury in a New York court, making it the first to face a former president in the country.
"I'm ok with that," Trump told Fox News in an interview that aired Sunday when asked about the threat of punishment he could face.
"I saw one of my lawyers a few days ago on television saying, 'Oh no, you don't want to do that to the president.' I said: you don't beg for anything," he continued.
However, Trump added, "I don't think people will stand it. I'm not sure people will stand it."
"I think it will be difficult for people to accept, you know, at some point, there will be a peak," Trump said.
The comments of the former Republican president come days after Manhattan judges found Trump guilty of all charges in the trial of the cash case, making him the first former president to be found guilty of a crime, as well as the first major party presidential candidate to be charged with crimes amid a campaign for the White House.
Judge Juan Merchant will sentence Trump on July 11. Judge Merchant can sentence Trump to probation or up to 4 years in state prison for each charge, with a maximum sentence of 20 years.
For now, the former president was not detained pending a verdict.
Trump himself reiterated that he did nothing wrong and reviled at the "sick" people who were involved in his verdict.

"I'm fighting for the Constitution," Trump said, adding that the trial was "heavyer" to his family than himself.
