The defendant Imam Triyanto's camp in the alleged corruption case of KONI Regency grant funds said that the crime that ensnared his client was not a corruption case. The legal adviser to the defendant Imam, Ahmad Teriswadi, reasoned that the grant that had been given by the Kudus Regency Government (Pemkab) to KONI was no longer state money. "The grant funds that have been transferred to KONI belong to KONI are no longer included in state finances," Ahmad said in a trial with the agenda of submitting an exception to the prosecutor's indictment at the Semarang Corruption Court, Central Java, Wednesday, May 29, which was confiscated by Antara. Therefore, he continued, if there is a misappropriation of the use of KONI grant funds, it is included in the realm of general crimes. Thus, Ahmad claimed, the Semarang Corruption Court was not entitled to try the case that dragged the former chairman of the Kudus Regency KONI. Another reason the court had to reject the prosecutor's indictment, he said, was that the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) stated that the findings on the use of grant funds sourced from the 2021 to 2023 APBD had been completed. "BPK stated that there were findings of alleged irregularities, but all the findings have been returned," he said.

The defendant's legal adviser questioned the Central Java BPKP's findings regarding the state loss of Rp. 2.3 billion in the management of the grant funds. Previously, the former chairman of the Kudus Regency KONI, Imam Triyanto, was tried on suspicion of corruption in grant funds for the parent organization of these sports branches from 2021 to 2023. The defendant's actions are suspected to have resulted in state losses of up to Rp. 2.3 billion. KONI Kudus Regency received a grant from the APBD and APBD changes in 2021, 2022, and 2023 with a total of IDR 22.9 billion. In the disbursement and distribution of the budget, the defendant allegedly used some of the money for his personal needs.
