Give Protection, LPSK Guarantees The Safety Of SYL Witnesses

JAKARTA - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) continues to provide physical protection and monitoring of the safety of witnesses in corruption cases with the defendant Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) for the next 6 months.

"We have protected it for several months, we carried out physical protection when we convened, as well as monitoring the supervision of the safety of the protected people, we have carried out for the next six months," said Deputy Chairperson of LPSK Susilaningtias when met at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 15.

Susi explained that the protection was based on the verdict at the LPSK Leadership Court (SMPL) at the end of last year.

According to the court's decision, three witnesses in the SYL case are still and continue to be given physical protection for the next six months.

"For the next six months we will provide protection to these witnesses," said Susi.

The application for protection in the SYL case was submitted on October 6, 2023.

The petitioners consist of SYL, former Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Ministry of Agriculture Muhammad Hatta, Panji Harjanto, HT (SYL driver), and UN ( honorary staff).

However, of the five applicants, LPSK decided that only three were protected, namely Panji Harjanto, HT, and UN.

Susilaningtias explained that HT received a physical protection program while undergoing examination as a witness and fulfilling procedural rights.

Meanwhile, UN obtained a physical protection program while undergoing examination as a witness, fulfillment of procedural rights, and psychological rehabilitation.
