JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) held a dialogue with farmers from Cihampelas, West Java. The farmers complained about the rice field irrigation in the area that had been damaged for a long time.

Hearing the complaints, Zulhas promised to coordinate with the Ministry of Public Works (PU) regarding the revitalization of irrigation for farmers' rice fields. He also asked the heads of related agencies to accommodate the farmers' outpouring of their hearts.
"I asked the Head of the Office to go to the field, (it was found) that there were thousands (of land that became less productive). There are 4 thousand hectares in Subang, there are another 4 thousand hectares in Sumedang, the rice fields are good, there are dams, but there is no irrigation. So he only (harvests) once," said Zulhas.
According to Zulhas, if the irrigation of the rice fields in the area is smooth, the land can be harvested two to three times a year. Therefore, he emphasized that he would invite the Ministry of Public Works to see this.
"We (later) will come directly to invite PU to work on it, because if there is only meeting (in the room), it will never be finished," said Zulhas.
