JAKARTA - The congregation at a Louisiana church united to prevent mass shootings over the weekend and all of them were recorded on live broadcasts.
Chaos erupted in the Saint Mary Magdalene Church in Abbeville during the first communicative ceremony for 60 second-class students, Saturday, May 11.
Reporting from CBSNews, Tuesday, May 14, the source of the chaos came from a 16-year-old boy carrying a gun.
He opened the back door of the crowded church and was immediately intercepted and escorted by parishioners.
Panic was seen hitting the crowd in a live broadcast of the ceremony. Outdoor servants ran for protection and pastors shouted behind the altar, while the pastor tried to calm everyone by asking them to say prayers.
Officers with tactical equipment appeared moments later to ensure the church was safe. No one was injured, and the 16-year-old was arrested and taken for mental health evaluation.
The Louisiana incident came a week after a man attempted to shoot a Pennsylvania priest in the middle of a service. The video of the potential shooting showed the man's gun jammed as he was signed plunging onto the bench and handling it.
"I was just trying to stop him from shooting me, because he directed it right at me, and I just looked down the gunbarrel," Pastor Glenn Germany told CBS News.
Pennsylvania gunman Bernard Polite said he heard voices. He was arrested and charged with killing his cousin on the same day.
