The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) recorded two eruptions on Mount Lewotobi Male in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara on Friday morning.

According to the Men's Mount Lewotobi Observation Post Officer Herman Yosef S Mboro in a written report received in Jakarta, Friday, the first eruption occurred at 00:00 WITA.

"The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 29.6 mm and a duration of 307 seconds," Herman reported regarding the first eruption that occurred on Friday morning.

"The eruption occurred again on Mount Lewotobi Laki at 03:21 WITA, recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 37 mm and a duration of 477 seconds," he said.

However, Herman reported that the visual high column of the two eruptions on Friday morning was not observed.

Based on the latest volcanic activity of Mount Lewotobi Laki, the status of the mountain with a height of 1,584 meters above sea level (masl) currently remains at level II or Alert.

Therefore, the observation post officer advised the local community and visitors and tourists not to carry out any activities within a 2 kilometer radius of the eruption center. The recommendation also applies sectorally 3 km in the north-northeast and 5 km in the northeastern sector.

He also said that PVMBG will continue to coordinate with BPBD East Nusa Tenggara and other related parties to report periodically the volcanic activity of Mount Lewotobi Laki.
