Observer: High Electability, Requirements For Defeating PKS In The Depok Regional Head Election

JAKARTA Candidates or figures with high electability are considered as one of the conditions if they want to undermine the dominance of PKS in the 2024 Depok Pilkada.

A political observer from Al-Azhar University, Ujang Komarudin, revealed that the regional elections are always related to candidate figures. Therefore, if PKS presents a candidate for mayor with high electability in Depok, it is likely that he will return to glory.

On the other hand, if there are other political parties that carry higher-electability figures, the dominance of PKS in Depok can be defeated.

"It must be seen whether the political opponent is strong or not. Because the political opponents of other stronger coalition parties can win. That is a consideration," he said.

As is known, PKS has controlled Depok City in the last two decades. The Islam-based party succeeded in placing its cadres as Mayor of Depok. Ahead of the 2024 Depok Pilkada, PKS has a strong candidate, namely Imam Budi Hartono, who is the chairman of the DPD PKS as well as the deputy mayor of Depok.

Apart from Imam Budi from PKS, several names were also predicted to run in the 2024 Depok Pilkada, such as the chairman of the Depok City Golkar Party, Farabi Arafiq, the chairman of the Depok City Gerindra Party, Pradi Supriatna, and the Depok City Regional Secretary (Sekda), Supian Suri.

PKS must also be seen with electability, for example, Imam who is promoted by PKS is higher or not than his political opponent. If electability is higher, you can win, but if electability is lower than the political opponent or the candidate promoted by another party, you can lose too," said Ujang.
