Golkar Will Be Carried Into Banten Cagub, Airin Also Registers For 4 Parties

JAKARTA - Former Mayor (Walkot) of South Tangerang (Tangsel), Airin Rachmi Diany will be promoted by the Golkar Party as a candidate for Governor of Banten in the 2024 Pilkada. He also admitted to registering as a candidate for cagub to 4 other parties.

Airin admitted that he had taken the registration forms to the 4 parties. This was revealed by Airin when he was present at the PKB regional head candidate selection (cakada).

"Yang partai kemarin ada pendaftaran dari PAN dan juga dari NasDem, kemarin sudah ada mengambil form. Nanti insyaallah dalam waktu dekat mengembalikan form bersamaan dengan PDIP maupun juga dengan PKB," kata Airin di Jakarta, Kamis, 2 Mei.

Airin admitted that Golkar could not carry it alone in the Banten gubernatorial election. Remember, Golkar only got 14 seats in the 2024 legislative election at the Banten DPRD.

Meanwhile, a minimum of 20 seats is needed for political parties to carry the candidate for governor of Banten in the 2024 Pilkada.

Thus, the former Mayor of South Tangerang 2 for this period must move to seek support from other political parties so that the coalition can be established.

"Starting with a good relationship, with all parties in the Banten province, hopefully it will be a good start in the democratic process in Banten Province in order to win," he said.

On that occasion, Airin also explained the reason he chose to run in the Banten gubernatorial election even though he passed the 2024 DPR RI Legislative Election with the highest votes in the Banten III electoral district.

"What is certain is very human. But once again this is a form of a democratic process, part of an effort. We can work anywhere that matters to provide benefits," he said.
