TNI Commander: Expired Munitions Are Easy To Explode

JAKARTA - TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto emphasized that the explosion at the Paldam Jaya Regional Munition Warehouse (Gud cheap) last night was a storage warehouse for ammunition left over from training or findings and ammunition that had expired or expired.

"Statically, the ammunition will actually be detonated or disposal, of course, through systematic, examination and so on," said General Agus Subiyanto in his statement, Sunday, March 31.

General Agus explained that the expired ammunition had a mass of up to a maximum of 10 years, including small-caliber munitions (MKK) or large-caliber munitions (MKB).

"Of the units that have been used in 10 years, collected at the cheap Gud in the regions, then through the systematic examination, if there are the results of the examination, they will be detonated and positioned," he explained.

General Agus said that the munitions had expired relatively sensitive and unstable. This means that munitions that are only affected by friction and heat will be easy to explode.

"That's why we have an underground SOP, so it's unstable, and at any time it can explode. That's our underground storage SOP. Then there is an embankment and far from community settlements," he said.

As is known, an ammunition warehouse in Ciangsana, Bogor Regency, exploded and caught fire on Saturday, March 29, at around 18.30 WIB.

Regarding the incident, no residents were evacuated and there were no victims. However, many residents were affected by the explosion.
