TASIKMALAYA - The Tasikmalaya City Police arrested four suspects in a motorcycle theft gang that often operates in the City/Regency of Tasikmalaya, West Java. Eight vehicles were successfully secured by officers. "This theft group acts in the City/Regency of Tasikmalaya," said Tasikmalaya City Police Chief AKBP Joko Sulistiono during a press conference on the disclosure of the case in Tasikmalaya, Antara, Friday, March 15. The disclosure of the case began with reports from people who lost motorbikes in the jurisdiction of the Tasikmalaya City Police. The police, he continued, carried out a series of investigations until they finally found out the pattern of the perpetrators in their actions. "The suspect's mode of stealing with a T key, then selling it to potential buyers in the Jampang Sukabumi area," said the Police Chief. He said the suspects in the gang, namely the initials W (39) as the executor, AM (46) as a jockey, then the two suspects, namely DK (48) and S (50) as collectors. They, he said, had been in action for a long time. The latest report four cases occurred during December 2023 in the clinic parking lot, puskesmas, rented places, and shops. "We secured eight motorcycles of various types stolen," he said. The police also secured other evidence such as T keys, toy firearms, sharp weapons, and a motorbike used by the perpetrators to carry out their crimes. As a result of his actions, the suspect languished in the Tasikmalaya City Police detention cell to undergo further legal proceedings and was charged with Article 363 paragraph 4e and paragraph 5e of the Criminal Code for theft with a weighted sentence, with a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.

Meanwhile, the two suspects who acted as custodians were charged with Article 480 of the Criminal Code regarding criminal acts of malicious help with the threat of a maximum imprisonment of four years in prison.
