Hit By Floods, Bridges On The West-West Papuan Trans-Papua Route Divided

PAPUA - Trans Street West Papua-West Papua Province or to be precise on the Kampung Meitefa bridge, was heavily damaged by the overflow of the Kali Kasih River.

The heavy rain that had occurred since Thursday, March 7, caused the water discharge of the Kali Kasih River to overflow onto the road and then damaged the asphalt on the Kampung Meitefa bridge, Sidey District, Manokwari Regency.

"Finally, the roads and bridges are separate, so vehicles cannot pass," said Head of the Manokwari Police Traffic Unit, Adjunct Commissioner of Police Subhan Ohoimas in Manokwari, Friday, March 8, as reported by Antara.

As a result of the split in the bridge, the usual access to transportation through the route was temporarily suspended.

Based on a report from the Manokwari Police Turjawali Team, Subhan said the damage to the road in the congregation reached 95 percent with a depth of approximately 15 meters.

Subhan said that his party had coordinated with the Manokwari Regency BPBD and the West Papua BPJN Road Division to repair the damage to the road and bridge in question.

"Our driver asked to turn around or choose another alternative route because the flow of water is still heavy," said Subhan.

The Turjawali Polresta team, he said, had installed a board containing an appeal for residents and vehicle drivers not to cross the location in an indefinite time.

The increase in the intensity of rain also caused some local residents' settlements to be submerged by the overflow of Kali Kasih water, thus requiring treatment as quickly as possible.

"Our personnel are still at the location to prevent motorists who are desperate to pass because they threaten safety," said Subhan.
