BENGKULU - Waroeng Sambal Bakar Bengkulu stated that his party had built drainage for the processing of good waste so as not to trigger unpleasant smells in waterways around the shop. DLH directs management to be more careful in managing its waste, one of which is separating dry and wet waste to be continued in the correct waste disposal. That way, he said, the waste that flows into the ditch around the shop does not pollute the residents' waterways, which is marked by an unpleasant odor. His party has also complied with the recommendations of the Bengkulu City DLH. Iqbal said that his party implemented a kitchen waste reservoir in a plastic bag, then handed it over to the transport service to be dumped in the place according to the designation. There should be no unpleasant smell in the ditch around the shop. If there is an unpleasant odor, according to him, it is not from the shop but from another source. Iqbal confirmed that there was liquid waste that the community complained about. However, this problem has been overcome by installing pipes from the disposal of kitchen and dilution waste to be transferred to a waste shelter in the front yard. Meanwhile, the Head of the Bengkulu City DLH, Riduan, said that his party had dispatched a team and it was known that the sambal shop waste management system had not met the requirements. DLH provides advice on good waste management and is obeyed by the shop. "When we checked that the waste management had been complied with according to the direction and guidance from the Bengkulu City DLH, the technical aspect of waste management has been carried out," he said. Regarding the affected residents of Waroeng Sambal Bakar, Riduan asked the manager and residents to hand over water samples for laboratory tests, sewer water and residents' wells, so that the exact cause of the smell was known. According to him, by testing the water sample, it can be ascertained that the source of unpleasant odors from ditches and well water from residents. Laboratory testing, he continued, can sort out the content of substances contained in ditches and wells of residents, whether from a chili shop or from other sources of pollution. Riduan said the Bengkulu City DLH had checked the blockage in the ditch, so that waste from various sources deposited and triggered an unpleasant odor around the burning chili shop. He said he had communicated with the local Public Works Office to renovate the ditch, so there was no ditch blockage that triggered puddles and unpleasant smells, because the water did not flow smoothly. "We asked for a check. We asked for samples to check the laboratory for about one bottle of mineral water. The test was paid for around Rp. 100,000-Rp. 200 thousand. From the water examination, it will be known where the source of the pollution came from," he said. Meanwhile, one of the residents affected by the waste around the shop explained that until now it was still disturbed by the aroma of the sewer. He hopes that the problem will be resolved soon, especially from the local government. He is also ready to hand over water samples around his house so that the source of the unpleasant odor can be known.

"Until now it is still having an impact and we are willing to have water around the residents' residences tested by the laboratory so that the problem is resolved immediately," he said.
