The Name Of The Governor Of West Sumatra Mahyeldi Is Profited For Grant Fund Fraud

The Governor of West Sumatra (West Sumatra), Mahyeldi asked the public to be aware of the mode of fraud related to the distribution of grant funds on behalf of him.

"The information I received was that there was a fraud mode related to the distribution of grant funds using the governor's name through the number 0895397336050. This is fraud," he said in Padang as reported by ANTARA, Monday, January 29.

He said the fraud mode was that the perpetrator claimed to be a fraudster conveyed to the victim regarding the distribution of grant funds and asked for the victim's account number.

Moments later, the perpetrator sent evidence of a fake transfer worth Rp. 10 million. Then, the perpetrator asked to be transferred back to a certain account worth Rp. 5 million, under the pretext of helping other parties.

"I personally or as Governor of West Sumatra have never contacted the parties directly to submit grant funds," said Mahyeldi.

Meanwhile, the Head of the West Sumatra Leadership Administration Bureau (Adpim), Mursalim, said that his party had coordinated with the Diskominfo and the Police to pursue the perpetrators.

"We hope that the perpetrators can be arrested soon because they are already disturbing," he said.

Mursalim said earlier in early 2023, there were also perpetrators who took the name of the Governor of West Sumatra to commit fraud. The mode is relatively similar.

He appealed to the public to ignore WA messages or messages via social media on behalf of himself as the Governor of West Sumatra who conveyed that there was assistance for grant funds.

"Don't believe it easily. If there is grant assistance or other assistance, it will usually be handled by the relevant OPD. It has never been directly by the governor," he said.
