Kaesang Praises Mahfud MD For Being Considered Mastering The Theme Of The Vice Presidential Debate Tonight

JAKARTA Mahfud MD was considered a tough opponent for Gibran Rakabuming in the Fourth Debate of Vice Presidential Election 2024, Sunday night, January 21. This was conveyed by the Deputy Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN), Kaesang Pangarep.

"Cak Imin (Muhaimin) must have mastered it, but my personal views, Prof. Mahfud MD will be very good at material, and I think he is a pretty tough opponent in this debate," said Kaesang, quoted from Antara, Sunday, January 21.

The chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) said Mahfud knew deeply all the problems regarding the theme of the fourth debate, namely energy, natural resources (SDA), food, carbon taxes, the environment, agrarianism, and indigenous peoples.

The youngest son of President Joko Widodo also assessed that Mahfud had worked very well as the coordinating minister for politics, law and security (Menko Polhukam) while in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet.

"He (Mahfud) worked very well at the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, so I think he knows the problems in Indonesia," said Kaesang.

While attending the friendship with the G8C and meeting PMIs, Kaesang also said Mahfud would be a great competitor to his brother, Gibran. Meanwhile, regarding Muhaimin Iskandar, Kaesang said he did not know anything.

"I think his opponent (who) is very heavy, Prof. Mahfud, yes; if Cak Imin doesn't know me; but it doesn't matter, Mas Gibran must always respect and respect all his opponents," said Kaesang.

Kaesang said Gibran was in Jakarta to get ready for the debate at the Senayan JCC, starting at 19.00 WIB. He also hopes that PSI cadres and volunteers, as well as PMIs can also watch the fourth debate through online broadcasts.

"We hope that tonight's debate will run smoothly," said Kaesang.

The Indonesian KPU has determined three participants in the 2024 presidential election, namely the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar pair number 1, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka number 2, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD number 3.

The Indonesian KPU has set an election campaign period from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024, while the vote is scheduled for February 14, 2024.
