Yongky, who is also a member judge at the trial, explained that his party could punish the defendant longer than the prosecutor's demands but was still considering mitigating matters, namely that the defendant acted cooperatively and admitted his actions. "Our consideration is because the victim's eyes are truly not cured anymore, meaning that it is truly permanently flawed," he explained. In this case, the defendant was proven to have violated Article 355 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 356 of the 2nd Criminal Code, namely persecution which resulted in serious injuries by prior planning an official when or because he was carrying out his legitimate duties. Based on the verdict handed down by the panel of judges, the defendant who attended the trial from the Class IIA Curup Prison stated that he accepted it. Meanwhile, the Public Prosecutor from the Kejari Rejang Lebong expressed his thoughts after reading the verdict, he said, it was the right of all parties to appeal or think about it. Prosecutor Rejang Lebong Prosecutor Doni Hendri Wijaya stated that his party was still thinking about the verdict even though the verdict was the same as the demands because the case at trial was a matter of attracting attention so it had to be reported to his superiors first. "Personally, as the public prosecutor, it is in accordance with the demands, most likely accept it. But we must report everything to the leadership first, in the next one or two days there will be a decision," he said. The case of the persecution of sports teacher SMAN 7 Rejang Lebong, which is located on Jalan Lintas Curup-Lubuklinggau, precisely in Simpang Beliti Village, Binduriang District occurred on Tuesday (1/8/2023) at around 09.30 WIB.

This incident began when the victim (Zaharman) found students smoking in the school environment during active study hours, then the victim took action against the student who smoked, then the student returned home to call his parents. The student's parents with the initials EJ came to SMAN 7 Rejang Lebong with a knife and a catapult immediately looked for the victim. After meeting, they immediately directed the catapult so that it hit the right eye, seeing the victim bleeding, the perpetrator immediately fled.
