KARIMUN - The Investigating Team of the District Attorney's Office (Kejari) of Karimun Regency, Riau Islands (Kepri), has named two suspects in the alleged corruption of grant funds from the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) for the 2022 fiscal year. The two suspects had the initials R as the treasurer of KONI, and M as the administrative officer or assistant treasurer. "The determination of the two suspects is based on the letter of determination of the PRINT- 45/L.10.12/Fd.1/01/2024 suspect and PRINT- 46/L.10.12/Fd.1/01/2024 dated January 11, 2024," said Head of the Special Crimes Section of the Karimun Kejari Gusti Juanda Putra, Antara, Friday, January 12. Gustian said the two suspects were suspected of misusing the KONI grant budget of Rp430 million, which came from the Karimun Regency APBD for the 2022 fiscal year with a total value of Rp3.8 billion. The second mode is to make accountability reports that are not in accordance with the implementation and to mark up or inflate the KONI activity budget. Furthermore, the budget was used by the two suspects for personal gain. "In this investigation, the state financial loss based on the calculation of the Riau Islands BPKP amounted to Rp430 million," said Gustian. Gustian continued that the actions of the two suspects violated Article 2 Paragraph (1) subsidiary Article 3 Juncto Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended and added to Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Corruption Crimes Juncto Article 55 Paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code. Both of them were immediately detained by the investigative team for the next 20 days at the Class IIB Karimun Detention Center, after looking at the subjective and objective requirements of detention based on Article 21 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

"The investigation process is still ongoing, so it is possible that there will be new suspects in this case," said Gustian.
