SENTANI - Jayapura Resort Police (Polres) confiscated five motorbikes in Karya Bumi Besum Village, Namblong, Jayapura Regency, Papua after the riots in Mamei Village, Kemtuk District on Thursday (4/1).
Kemtuk Police Chief Iptu Bambang Irianto said the five motorbikes were secured by members of the Kemtuk Police based on information provided by the village head of Mamei.
"We obtained this information that the motorbikes were parked next to the yard of the Head of Mamei Village, Mr. Nimbrot Samon, in Kemtuk District, and immediately secured," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, January 5.
"It is suspected that the five motorbikes were looted during a social conflict in Karya Bumi Besum Village, thanks to information obtained from one of the village heads," he said.
He explained that currently the motorbikes had been secured at the Kemtuk Police Headquarters and would then be checked at the Samsat of who the owners of the vehicle were.
"Residents of Kampung Karya Bumi Besum who feel that they have lost their motorbikes can come with a complete letter to the Kemtuk Police Headquarters to check the five motorbikes," he said.
