Record, 2024 New Year's Eve Garbage In Jakarta Capai 130 Tons

JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto, said that the amount of waste collected during the New Year's Eve 2024 celebrations in the capital reached 130 tons. Asep said, this number is the largest number after going through the pandemic.

"Last year, there were 74 tons. Meanwhile, before the pandemic, at the turn of 2019 to 2020, the waste reached 125 tons. Last night, the waste reached 130 tons from all over Jakarta and specifically from all over Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin, 32 tons of waste was collected," said Asep in his statement, Monday, January 1.

Asep said that his party had targeted that the waste should be handled by 04.00 WIB or before dawn on January 1, 2024. The waste, he said, had to be transported to be processed at 3R TPS.

"We dispatched 3,180 officers to maintain cleanliness in locations for New Year's celebrations in Jakarta. The cleaning staff was divided into 4 shifts without stopping," said Asep.

He also appreciated the hard work of the cleaning staff who had succeeded in cleaning up the garbage at the crowd point celebrating the new year in Jakarta.

"We also thank all parties who have collaborated with DLH. PPSU, Satpol PP officers, Transportation Agency, Distahut, all working hand in hand to make Jakarta slow again," he concluded.
