Firli Bahuri's Resignation Letter Is Immediately Processed By The Palace

JAKARTA - Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana confirmed Firli Bahuri had submitted his resignation as Chairman of the KPK on December 18. The letter has been received by the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg).

"The Ministry of State Secretariat has received a letter dated December 18, 2023 from Mr. Firli Bahuri to the President who submitted his resignation from the position of Chairman and Chair of the KPK," Ari told reporters in a written statement, Thursday, December 21.

Ari said the letter was immediately processed. This is because President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) only arrived after a working visit to the capital city of Nusantara (IKN).

"Currently, the resignation letter is being processed so that it can be immediately determined by a Presidential Decree," he said.

"It should be noted that President Jokowi only arrived in Jakarta this afternoon from a working visit to IKN," continued Ari.

As previously reported, Firli Bahuri announced his resignation as chairman of the anti-corruption commission after meeting with the KPK Supervisory Board on Thursday afternoon, December 21.

Meanwhile, the KPK Council will actually determine the fate of the alleged ethical violation of the inactive KPK chairman Firli Bahuri. They just need to examine the reporter and the reported party before giving the sentence to the retired Bhayangkara Corps.

"We will first compile the verdict (after all the examinations are completed, ed)," said member of the KPK Council Albertina Ho to reporters.

Albertina said that her party examined a number of witnesses to investigate the alleged ethical violations committed by Firli today. One of them is the boss of the nightclub, Alex Tirta.

The KPK Council finally tried Firli for the three violations he allegedly committed. The first is related to a meeting with former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo. The two ethical violations committed by Firli also relate to LHKPN that are not true, including debt.

Finally, an ethics trial will also be held regarding the rental of a house on Jalan Kertanegara Number 46. Firli is suspected of violating Article 4 Paragraph 2 letter a or Article 4 paragraph 1 letter j and Article 8 of the KPK Council Regulation (Perdewas) Number 3 of 2021.
