SIDOARJO - Jalan Layang Djuanda di Kalimantan, Sidoarjo, Jawa Timur mulai diajicobakan untuk mendukung kelancaran lalu lintas saat pelaksanaan Natal dan juga Tahun Baru 2024.

PPK 3.4 East Java Province (Surabaya-Waru-Sidoarjo) I Made Gede Widhiyasa said Jalan Layang Djuanda was conducted functional trials from 15 December 2023 to 21 December 2023.

"This open-close system is implemented because there are still minor works that are carried out at night, such as the installation of ornaments and installation of safety fences," he said.

He explained that the functionalization of Jalan Layang Djuanda in the context of infrastructure support for smooth traffic in the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year holidays will be carried out from December 21, 2023 to January 2, 2024.

"Regarding the preparation of trials and functionalization of the Djuanda Flyover during the Christmas and New Year 2024 holidays, the East Java-Bali BBPJN has coordinated with the East Java Police Traffic Directorate, East Java BPTD, and several related parties," he said.

Several officers will be placed at points that are expected to experience congestion to maintain smooth traffic flow.

"The Djuanda Flyover will be closed again after January 2, 2024 or the 2024 Christmas and New Year holidays have ended," he said.

The full operation of Jalan Layang Djuanda will be carried out after all the work is completed, in accordance with the plan for the first handover of the work, namely on April 23, 2024.

Regarding physical progress, he said, the construction of Jalan Layang Djuanda until December 11 had reached 95.21 percent, exceeding the plan of 83.35 percent with a surplus of 11.85 percent.

"The Djuanda Flyover located in Sidoarjo Regency has a total length of 858 meters with Flyover A (Sidoarjo-Juanda) 435 meters long and Flyover B (Juanda-Surabaya) 423 meters long. The Djuanda Flyover road has a bridge width of 9 meters consisting of 2 lanes with a width of 3.5 meters each, the shoulder of the road, and the parapet as a protector," he said.
