PLBN Jagoi Babang Bengkayang West Kalimantan Will Soon Be Inaugurated

BENGKAYANG - Minister of Home Affairs and Head of the National Border Management Agency Tito Karnavian said the Jagoi Babang Cross-Border Post (PLBN) in Bengkayang District, West Kalimantan, was one of the limits that were ready to be inaugurated.

"From the existing readiness we have seen in Jagoi Babang, it is quite ready and also quite representative, the building is very good. I was told that it is very much different from the previous posts," Tito said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 13.

Tito visited PLBN Jagoi Babang to check the final ahead of the inauguration of the boundary. He said the results of the check would later be submitted to Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

He said Jagoi Babang was the last PLBN visited among the five PLBNs that had been completed and operated, namely PLBN Serasan, PLBN Yettkun, PLBN Napan, and PLBN Sebatik.

"I will say this, it's up to the President when he wants to inaugurate and then whether to inaugurate the five one or maybe also wave two, have an impact, maybe three, make one, or maybe five to be one," he said.

However, Tito said he would suggest that only PLBN would be the most prepared to be inaugurated directly by the head of state. One of the most prepared is PLBN Jagoi Babang.

"If the five five are used as one, I will certainly suggest to him (President Jokowi, ed.) who is most ready. I see Jagoi Babang is one of the most prepared," he said.

The head of the BNPP has not been able to confirm the exact time of the inauguration of the PLBN, but it is possible that it will be in early 2024.

"Later (the inauguration of the PLBN) is up to him (President Jokowi, ed). It seems that at the end of this year he will be full. Maybe at the beginning of the year, yes," he said.

According to Tito, the construction of PLBN is important in maintaining border sovereignty, especially on land routes that do not deny that there is a hidden entry route or known as the rat route.

On the other hand, President Jokowi believes that PLBN is the homepage of the country because PLBN is the leading location that is directly facing other national boundaries.

"He knows that this Cross-Border Post is a homepage for Indonesia. Of course we are really serious about building Cross-Border Posts. Many have been built or renovated by him so he is proud," added Tito.

PLBN Jagoi Babang stands in a hilly location on an area of approximately 16.7 hectares. This PLBN is the boundary between Jagoi Babang District and Serikin, Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Acting Head of PLBN Administrator Jagoi BabangMisdo Jerry when interviewed at PLBN Jagoi Babang, Tuesday (12/12), hopes that the PLBN he leads can be inaugurated this year.

"We hope this year. We hope to be inaugurated so that the echo can be heard. Because if the President is present, it's different. Usually the echo is more luxurious, even though we have operationalized it before it was inaugurated," said Misdo.
