Police Examine 5 Witnesses In Accident Case That Killed 7 People In Bengkulu

BENGKULU - Mukomuko Resort Police, Bengkulu Province, examined five witnesses related to a traffic accident that resulted in seven deaths on the Sumatra Cross Road near Mekar Mulya Village, Penarik District on Thursday, December 7.

"For the time being, as many as five witnesses have been examined, namely three members of the Mukomuko Police Traffic Unit who are on picket, driver, and kernet of tronton trucks," said Head of Traffic Unit AKP Rully Zuldh Fermana, Antara, Sunday, December 10.

Rully said that until now, no one has been named a suspect or responsible for the accident based on the results of the examination of witnesses.

The police plan to summon more related parties as witnesses in the case of a tronton truck accident that narrowed the Toyota Kijang car in Mekar Mulya Village, Penarik District.

Mukomuko Police Chief AKBP Nuswanto confirmed that the evidence had been secured in this investigation.

"We will inform you of further developments related to this case. We have secured evidence," he said.

In the incident, a tronton truck with police number BH 8232 HV carrying heavy equipment narrowed a Toyota Kijang car with police number B 1536 WMC carrying a family. This accident resulted in seven deaths and one toddler survived. The survivors suffered minor injuries.

The identities of the seven people who died were Syafri Yanto (the driver), Heru Surtam (31 years), Murni Jaher (60 years), Zulhakim (60 years), Meza Junita Putri (26 years), Desnita (46 years), and Tasmita (67 years). They are all residents of Tapanan from Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra Province.
