5.2 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Central Maluku, BMKG Urges Residents To Calm

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 again rocked Central Maluku, Maluku on Sunday December 3 at 11.39 Wit. There was no tsunami warning issued by the Ambon Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) due to the earthquake.

From BMKG Ambon data, Maluku, the epicenter of the earthquake was at 13 North O and 46 kilometers northeast of Sawai, Central Maluku.

Meanwhile, the location of the current earthquake is precisely at coordinates 2.69 south latitude and 129 east longitude with a depth of 10 kilometers.

"The earthquake was felt quite well in the Kobisonta area of Central Maluku until it was felt in the western Seram of Maluku," said BMKG Ambon.

Meanwhile, until now, there have been no reports from local residents, there was damage caused by the earthquake.

BMKG Ambon continues to urge residents to remain calm and avoid buildings that are cracked or damaged by the earthquake. Residents on the coast should be aware of aftershocks that often occur in Maluku.
