The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tambun Polsek Metro Bekasi Police arrested five perpetrators who produced and circulated synthetic tobacco-type narcotics.

"Tuesday (October 22, 2024) at around 11.00 WIB, when members of the South Tambun Police Criminal Investigation Unit carried out a car patrol around the crime scene, saw someone using a Honda Beat motorbike that looked suspicious," said Tambun Police Chief Kompol Sutirto in his statement, Friday, November 22, 2024.

Seeing something odd, the team approached and conducted a brief interrogation of the person.

"After a brief interrogation, it turned out that it was true that the person admitted that he was placing or sticking synthetic tobacco narcotics," he said.

From the results of the confession of the perpetrator with the initials MAR, members asked to show where the narcotics were attached.

"After admitting and showing where the item was attached, a clear clip package was obtained containing synthetic leaf-type narcotics covered with stones," said Sutirto.

According to MAR's confession, he was told to stick the narcotics to be sold and circulated by MN and WP whose role was to hold an Instagram social media account called Dark Sea Octopus for narcotics sales.

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tambun Police, Iptu Kukuh Setio Utomo, also revealed that five perpetrators were arrested in this case, apart from the three suspects, there were two more, namely MRS playing the right hand of the designer and FR playing the role of making materials into synthetic tobacco ready for distribution.

"There are five perpetrators who have their respective roles during the search of the residence of one of the perpetrators at Perum Mustika Grande, Burangkeng Village," he said.

Kukuh explained that at the location, synthetic leaves and 10 packages of clear clips containing synthetic leaf narcotics were also found which had been mapped and ready to be circulated to be sold through social media Instagram accounts.

Kukuh added that currently the perpetrators were secured to the South Tambun Police for further investigation along with evidence to account for their actions.
