Counterfeit Money Dealer Rp27 Million In Sumenep Arrested By Police

SUMENEP - Sumenep Police Resmob officers arrested three suspected counterfeit money dealers worth Rp. 27 million. The three suspects named Sohep, Dahri, and Mashuri, residents of Ellak Village, Lenteng District, Sumenep, East Java. According to the police, all three used the counterfeit money to buy beamwood at a building shop. The shop owner immediately reported it to the police station. Armed with a CCTV camera, the police also managed to track the suspect's car and arrested it with evidence. "They are indeed a syndicate of counterfeit money dealers. The mode was spent in the store. Before we arrested them, they bought wood with counterfeit money amounting to Rp. 27 million," explained Head of Resmob Sumenep Police Ipda Sirat, Thursday, December 1. After arresting the three suspects, the police also confiscated the logs purchased by the suspect with the counterfeit money. "We also confiscated this fake money. We also confiscated it," added Sirat. Currently, the police continue to develop cases of the circulation of this counterfeit money to other dealer networks. According to police data, by the political year, the circulation of counterfeit money in the Madura Island region continues to increase. The police appealed to the public to be vigilant and more careful when transacting with Rp100.000 and Rp. 50,000 denominations.

"You have to be more aware of the circulation of counterfeit money. Using money detectors is better, especially shop business actors," added Sirat. As a result of his actions, the three suspects were charged with Article 265 of the Criminal Code concerning the Circulation of Counterfeit Money and were threatened with 15 years in prison.
