Nawawi Refuses To Comment On M Suryo's News About People Close To The Metro Jaya Police Chief

JAKARTA - The interim chairman of the KPK, Nawawi Pomolango, refuses to comment on Muhamad Suryo, an entrepreneur who is reportedly a suspect in a project bribery case at the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation. Including the matter of his closeness to the Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto.

It is known that the closeness of Karyoto and Suryo was conveyed by the boss of PT Istana Putra Agung, Dion Renato Sugiarto during a trial at the Semarang Corruption Court, Thursday, November 16. He admitted that he received this information from fellow KPK detainees in front of the panel of judges.

"No comment (about the closeness of Karyoto and Suryo, ed)," Nawawi told reporters at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, November 27.

Nawawi also did not want to talk much about the determination of M. Suryo as a new suspect in the DJKA bribery case. He said, any announcement of the investigation of the case at the KPK would be submitted in a press conference.

The KPK's Director of Enforcement Asep Guntur also conveyed the same thing. He said the announcement would be made in the right time when the evidence held was sufficient.

"That if later designated as a suspect or for example the announcement is announced at the KPK, a suspect like this will be announced through the press conference," Asep said on a separate occasion.

"Just wait," he continued.

Suryo has been questioned several times by the KPK in his capacity as a witness in the DJKA bribery case. He was questioned for the suspect, PT Istana Putra Agung, Dion Renato Sugiarto, who is now a defendant.

Furthermore, Suryo is also said to have received a sleep fee from Dion in the amount of Rp9.5 billion from the promise of Rp11 billion in the indictment. Sleeping fee is the provision of money from participants who win the auction to the losers and this is a habit in organizing project auctions.

The project auction in question is the Ka Antara Doubles Line Development package Solo Balapan-Kadipiro-Kalioso KM96+400 to KM104+900 (JGSS 6) 2022, the construction of the Ka Elevated Doubles Line between Solo Balapan-Kadipiro KM104+900 to KM106+900 (JGSS 4) in 2022, and the Track Layout of Tegal Station (TLO Tegal) in 2023.

Next, Suryo's name also appeared in the trial of alleged bribery of DJKA officials with the defendant Head of the Central Java Railway Engineering Center (BTP) Putu Sumarjaya and the Central Java BTP commitment maker Bernard Hasibuan at the Semarang Corruption Court, Thursday, November 16.

At that time, Dion Renato Sugiarto, who was presented at the trial, admitted that he had asked Muhammad Suryo to another detainee at the South Jakarta Police Detention Center. Because, he was surprised to be able to come and be asked to change the information in the investigation report (BAP).
