Vice President Ma'ruf Amin Tells The Tolerance In Indonesia To The Religious Community In Slovakia

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin told the religious community in Slovakia about religious holidays in Indonesia which are always enlivened by all religious people because of the high tolerance in social life.

During an Interfaith Dialogue in Bratislava, Slovakia, Vice President Ma'ruf told the story of Islamic holidays, Eid al-Fitr in Indonesia is always crowded. This is because Islam is the religion with the most adherents in Indonesia.

However, excitement and solemnity in celebrating religious holidays does not only occur during Eid. When Christians celebrate Christmas, Muslims and other religious communities also celebrate the Christian holiday at the end of that year.

The excitement in celebrating these different religious holidays shows the uniqueness and tolerance of life in Indonesia, as a country that has a wealth of diversity.

"Uniknya itu kalau hari amat, Idul Fitri itu sekali ramai karena memang jumlah penduduknya sekali banyak tapi saat Natal dan Tahun Baru juga ramai karena yang ikut merayarkan, yang pulang kampung itu, yang ada di mal-mal itu bukan hanya orang Catholic, bukan hanya orang Kristen tapi orang Islam ikut semua meramatikan itu," kata Ma'ruf dilansir ANTARA, Senin, 27 November.

In the dialogue, Vice President Ma'ruf called for religious tolerance to be carried out in all regions in the world. He hopes that religious diversity will not become an element of breaking, but a peace for all people.

This is also a joint effort to find a peaceful solution to the global conflict, one of which is through dialogue between religious adherents.

"We must strengthen moderation and tolerance. The solution of religious moderation management is an important instrument in preventing conflict, so that a peaceful world order is realized," he said.

Also attending the Interfaith Dialogue were religious leaders in Slovakia, namely Slovak Bishops Conference (President of Slovakia Bishop Conference) Mons Bernard Bober and Nuncio Apostolic Nicola Girasoli.
