Medan District Court Judge Sentenced To 18 Years In Prison Selling Shabu 191.49 Grams

The panel of judges at the Medan District Court sentenced the defendant Anggri alias Anggi and the defendant M.Aziz Marwan to sell 191.49 grams of methamphetamine.

"In addition, the two defendants were fined Rp. 2 billion, subsidiary to six months in prison," said Chief Judge Dahlan at the Medan District Court, North Sumatra, as reported by ANTARA Thursday, November 16.

He said, from the facts of the trial, the panel of judges believed that the two defendants violated Article 114 paragraph (2) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

The essence of the article, said Dahlan, was that the two defendants attempted or argued maliciously without rights or against the law offered to sell, sell, buy, accept, become intermediaries in buying and selling, exchanging, or handing over Narcotics Category I in the form of non-plants weighing more than five grams.

"The thing that burdens the two defendants does not support the government's program in eradicating drugs and harming public health," said Dahlan.

The mitigating thing is that the two defendants are polite and regret their actions.

In addition, the panel of judges also sentenced the defendants Torkis Nasution and Bayu Syahputra to 10 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to six months in prison for being proven to have bought methamphetamine.

As the primary indictment, Article 127 paragraph (1) letter a of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009, concerning Narcotics in conjunction with 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.

Then, the panel of judges gave the public prosecutor a seven-day thinking period, the defendant's legal adviser and the defendant to accept or appeal against the decision.

Anggri and M Aziz's verdict is heavier than the demands of the public prosecutor for 13 years and a fine of Rp. 2 billion, subsidiary to 1 year in prison, while Torkis and Bayu for four years.

The indictment revealed that on May 13, 2023, the North Sumatra Police Water and Air Directorate received information on Jalan Kampar, Environment IX, Belawan I Village, Medan Belawan District, Medan as a place for the circulation of methamphetamine.
