JAKARTA - The vice presidential candidate (cawapres) from the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) Gibran Rakabuming Raka respects the decision of the Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court (MKMK).

MKMK stated that Anwar Usman violated serious ethics related to the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the requirements for the age of the presidential and vice-presidential candidates to be changed to 40 years. As a result, Gibran's uncle was removed from the position of Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court.

"We respect the existing decision," said Gibran in Solo, Central Java, Friday, November 10, as reported by Antara.

Regarding the Constitutional Court's decision regarding the minimum requirements for presidential and vice-presidential candidates who are considered legally flawed so as to provide an advantage for him to be able to participate in the 2024 presidential election contestation, Gibran submitted the assessment to the public.

Previously, Constitutional Justice Anwar Usman claimed that there was a scenario of damaging his reputation in order to be declared to have violated severe ethics in the decision on the age limit of the presidential and vice presidential candidates by the MKMK.

Anwar was fired from his position as Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court in the decision of the MKMK on November 9. Anwar claimed it was a scenario designed before the MKMK was formed.

"I know and have received news that efforts to carry out politicization and make me the object of various Constitutional Court decisions and the final Constitutional Court decision, as well as the plan to form the Constitutional Court, I have heard long before the MKMK was formed," Anwar said at a press conference at the Constitutional Court Building, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, November 8.
