JAKARTA - Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri said political accusations were normal, especially ahead of the election. However, he ensured that all enforcement activities would be in accordance with applicable regulations.

This was conveyed by Ali in response to allegations by the KPK in politics after the Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo was reported to be a suspect. Ali said everything would be conveyed openly when the time was right.

"We need to convey that we are well aware that this is ahead of the 2024 political year, everything that the KPK is doing will definitely be related to the ongoing political process. But we want to emphasize that in due time it will be clearly disclosed what the evidence is, what kind of actions in front of the panel of judges," Ali told reporters at the KPK's Red and White House, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, September 29.

Ali ensured that the current investigation process had sufficient evidence. "We make sure this is purely an enforcement process. Moreover, we have opened the investigation process long ago," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK raised the status of alleged corruption at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) to an investigation. In this process, investigators have searched the official residence of Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo at Widya Chandra, South Jakarta.

During the search, tens of billions of rupiah and firearms were found in the form of a gun.

The KPK said the investigators would analyze the findings of the money for confiscation. Meanwhile, firearms will be taken care of by the police.
