MKD Asked To Pick Up The Ball Regarding The Alleged Flow Of BTS Corruption Money To Commission I Of The DPR

JAKARTA - Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI), Boyamin Saiman assessed that the fact that the trial of the BTS 4G BAKTI tower corruption case, the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) revealed that the flow of money to Commission I of the DPR worth Rp. 70 billion needed the attention of the Honorary Court of the Council (MKD). According to him, MKD can pick up the ball rather than having to wait for reports from the public. Boyamin even felt insulted if the people were asked to report if they knew and had evidence about a member of the council involved in the alleged BTS corruption case.

"They (DPR MKD, ed) have their own authority to pick up the ball, based on the findings. How come they only rely on public reports like that? I actually feel more insulted if people are told to report it," Boyamin told reporters, Friday, September 29.

Boyamin explained that the MKD could pick up the ball by asking for information from members of Commission I of the DPR and coordinating with the Attorney General's Office. Moreover, he said, this fact was revealed in a trial that was open to the public which affected the good name of the DPR in the eyes of the public.

"If they really want to maintain the dignity and good name of the DPR, they should actively coordinate with the Attorney General's Office," said Boyamin. Previously, Chairman of the House of Representatives Honorary Court (MKD) Adang Daradjatun asked the public to report if they knew and had evidence related to the flow of funds suspected of corruption in the project of providing Base Transcevier Station (BTS) towers to Commission I of the DPR. The flow of money to Commission I of the DPR worth Rp70 billion was disclosed by the witness presented at the trial.

"If there are people who feel they have sufficient evidence and so on, just put it in the MKD counter, they will be responded to," said Adang to reporters, Wednesday, September 27. Personally, Adang admitted that he was not aware of any information regarding the flow of BTS' alleged corruption funds to members of Commission I of the DPR. However, he confirmed, MKD will follow developments related to this information.

Therefore, the PKS politician asked the public not to hesitate to report members of the DPR who were suspected of being involved in the case accompanied by sufficient evidence.

"If there are members of the DPR who commit violations of ethics, law or whatever, please submit the report," said Adang.
