The Body Of PMI Victims Of The Pesilat Brawl In Taiwan Arrived At Soetta Airport With 3 Other Indonesian Citizens' Bodies

JAKARTA - The bodies of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) who were victims of a brawl between groups of fighters in Taiwan, last Saturday, September 2, have arrived in the country via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta), Tangerang, Banten.

During the repatriation of the body of the brawl victim, his identity was identified as Jaenal Fanani, from Telgalek, East Java, with the profession of being a manufacturing worker in Taiwan.

Jaenal's body was transported using the Cathay Pacific commercial aircraft flight number CX 797 on the Jakarta route which landed Saturday, September 16 evening, at around 23.00 WIB at the Soetta Airport Cargo Terminal.

In addition to the victims of the brawl in Taiwan, at the repatriation there were also three PMI coffins with their identities, namely Suryani, from East Java, Lustianah, from Lampung and Yana Mulyana, a resident from West Java.

Head of the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP2MI) Benny Rhamdani in Tangerang, said that in total, there were four PMIs who had been repatriated from Taiwan. And all of these were directly facilitated by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) together with BP2MI.

"Today, September 17, 2023, BP2MI received the arrival of four bodies from Taiwan. They were present with us as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," said Benny, quoting Antara, Sunday, September 17.

Benny explained that the late migrant worker named Jaenal died from a stab wound during a fight between Indonesian martial arts organizations in Taiwan.

"Why did this victim just be sent home. Because he had to go through procedures in the placement country," he explained.

Then, for the other three bodies, it was the repatriation of PMI with different cases. Where, he said, like the late Suryani, the household assistant (ART) died due to complications of pancreatitis and urenia hemoragic shock.

"And his return was immediately facilitated by the company's official agency, namely PT Vita Melati Indonesia," he said.

Meanwhile, the late Sukasih, who is also his profession as a household assistant, died from tuberculosis.

"While the late Rendi, worked as a crew member of the LG ship (ABK) who departed unofficially, his death was not yet known and would be informed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and of course the authority of the placement country," he said.

For the return of the four PMI bodies, BP2MI immediately returned them and delivered them to their respective areas of origin.

As previously reported, according to a Taiwan News report, a mass brawl involving PMI occurred outside the West Taiwan train station, in Changhua City to be precise.

In the clash of the PMI training group that resulted in the death of one person, one person was seriously injured and 29 people were arrested.

From the report, 15 people were named suspects. The police also found a number of sharp weapons allegedly used for brawls.

Fifteen suspects have been transferred to the Changhua District Prosecutor's Office for investigation on charges of murder, assault and participating in deadly fights.
