Police Arrest 3 Illegal Hinders Of Production Forest In Muba, South Sumatra

Police officers arrested three suspected perpetrators who carried out illegal logging activities in the forest area produced by the Meranti River, in Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra. After carrying out the development, YS was arrested on September 7, 2023. The evidence that the police secured from the suspect's hands were 700 log logs, wooden sales cash books, two transport cars, and three palm oil machines used to process wood. According to him, the arrests at the crime scene, the perpetrators admitted that the wood being transported would be sent to DKI Jakarta, and they had been operating for one year. "The perpetrators during their operation have sold 250 cubic meters of wood," he explained. For their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 78 Paragraph (2) of Law Number 41 of 1999 concerning forestry as amended by Article 36 numbers 19 to (2) of the provisions of Article 78 (2) of Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation, as well as processing wood without permits as in article 83 paragraph 1 letter c in conjunction with article 12 letter h and/or individual persons who deliberately receive, buy, sell and or have forest products known to come from illegal logging as referred to in article 87 paragraph 1 letter a, b in conjunction with article 12 letter k and law number 18 of 2018 concerning the prevention and eradication of forest destruction.
