Basarnas Ship Burns While Docking at Penjaringan Pier

JAKARTA - A Basarnas-owned ship unit caught fire while undergoing repairs or docking at the Jalan Tuna Raya Kav. 1 pier, Muara Baru, Penjaringan District, North Jakarta on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, evening.

"The object is a burning ship. The initial fire was at 20.03 WIB, the extinguishing process is still ongoing," said Kasiop Sudin Gulkarmat North Jakarta and Thousand Islands, Gatot Sulaeman.

The incident of the ship's fire triggered the attention of local residents who live near the ship's workshop area.

A total of 5 fire trucks were deployed to the location to put out the fire. At least 25 fire personnel continued to struggle to put out the fire.

According to information collected, the ship is from outside Jakarta which is undergoing annual routine maintenance.

The head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Muara Baru Police, Ipda Fauzi Widi, said that his party was still investigating the fire on the ship. He also confirmed that the one that burned was the Basarnas ship.

"We checked the location of the fire. The information is that the ship is being repaired," he said when confirmed.

Currently, the extinguishing process is still ongoing at the location. There were no casualties in the incident.
