The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Center (BB TNBTS) stated that a temporary closure of the Bromo Hijacking access was carried out to ensure the safety of tourists due to forest and land fires. Head of Administration Section of the TNBTS Septi Eka Wardhani said the closure of Bromo Penanjakan was still carried out even though the area that experienced the fire was in the Perum Perhutani area and not in the national park area. "It is still closed for the purpose of Penanjakan, for the safety of visitors," said Septi as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, September 4. Septi explained, based on information received by the TNBTS Center on Monday (4/9), the fire that occurred in the Perum Perhutani area had been successfully extinguished by the joint team deployed to carry out fire control. According to him, his party is currently ensuring that conditions were completely safe before the TNBTS Center reopened tourist access to visitors, especially in the Bromo Penanjalanan area. "Even though it is located in the Perhutani area, but is close to our area. So, for the sake of security, Penanjakan is closed," he said. Access to Bromo Penjajaran was closed from all entrances to the national park. Tourists are allowed to enter the national park area for the destination of Pasir Bromo Sea. "For Penanjakan is still closed from all doors. Tourists may enter only the purpose of the Sand Sea," he said.

On Sunday (3/9), the TNBTS Center decided to close tourist access to Mount Bromo for tourists at the Wonokitri entrance, Pasuruan Regency. The closure was carried out due to forest and land fires that occurred in the Perum Perhutani area. Previously, the TNBTS Center also closed tourist access from the Malang Regency and Lumajang Regency areas on September 1, 2023 due to forest and land fires. The fire had been extinguished and the manager opened access to the entrance on Sunday (3/9). The fire incident was first known to occur in the Bantengan area which is located around the border of the National Park Management resort (PTN) of the Coban Trisula area and the resort of PTN in the Ranupani region on August 29, 2023 at 23.30 WIB. TNBTS Center officers carried out follow-up by examining the location presented by the community. Officers confirmed the presence of a source of fire on the northern slopes access to the Malang-Lumajang road, and spread to the savana area and the Jemplang block. The effort to extinguish the fire was carried out by a joint team derived from a number of elements namely the Raupani Village, Ngadas Village and Argosari Village, TNI and Polri. The TNBTS Center is still carrying out identification related to the cause and area of the area affected by the fire. All parties are asked to be careful considering the very dry weather conditions due to the dry dry dry season and partly savana damped due to the phenomenon of upas dew.
