KPK Waits For A Copy Of Mardani Maming's Cassation Decision Before Investigating Allegations Of Money Laundering

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is still waiting for a complete copy of the cassation decision of former Tanah Bumbu Regent Mardani H. Maming before deciding to develop the case that ensnared him. They need the file to determine further steps, including applying the article on money laundering (TPPU).

"So far we have not received a complete copy of the verdict," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to VOI, Tuesday, August 8.

Ali did not make any further statements. He only hopes that the copies can be submitted by the Supreme Court (MA).

Previously, the Supreme Court rejected the cassation filed by Mardani Maming. He was still sentenced to 12 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 500 million, subsidiary to four months in prison.

Case number: 3741 K/Pid.Sus/2023 was tried by the chairman of the panel of judges Suhadi with members Agustinus Purnomo Hadi and Suharto. The verdict was read out on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.

This decision is heavier than the demands of the KPK Public Prosecutor (JPU) at the first level. He was previously sentenced to 10 years and 6 months in prison with a fine of Rp700 million, subsidiary to 8 months and to pay compensation of Rp118 billion, subsidiary to 5 years in prison.

In this case, Mardani is believed to have received a gift or gratification from a mining entrepreneur, the former Director of PT Prolindo Cipta Nusantara (PCN) of the late Henry Soetio with a total of no less than Rp118 billion while in office.

This acceptance is related to the issuance of the Tanah Bumbu Regent Decree Number 296 of 2011 concerning approval for the transfer of mining business permits (IUP) OP from PT BKPL to PT PCN.
