The Fuel Carrier Ship At Muara Baru Pier Caught Fire, The Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Uses Teepol So It Doesn't Hinder

JAKARTA - The North Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service deployed five fire units to extinguish sparks on the motor boat carrying Diesel Fuel (BBM), KM Mitra Usaha 05, at Muara Baru pier, Thursday, May 25.

North Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Commander of the North Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Penjaringan Sub-district, Kilau Sinulingga, at the west pier of Nizam Fishery Port, Zachman Muara Baru, said that the handling of the fire was carried out using a teasepole (foam).

"There were five units that were deployed. Handling with teepol so that the fire did not spread to the hull of the ship with fuel," said Sinulingga, quoted from Antara, Thursday, May 25.

According to Sinulingga, the explosion occurred when workers were draining the ship. Suddenly the hull emitted smoke because it occurred in the hold, the room under the deck or where the crew worked.

"There was an ignition. Two victims have been taken to the hospital," said Sinulingga when confirmed.

Sinulingga said that his party was still focused on handling early when a fire broke out using fresh water in the fire unit in order to cause foam from Teepol liquid to make the blackout run optimally.

According to him, the initial handling should not fail. Because if it fails, the fire can spread throughout the hull containing Solar fuel. This will not only expand the lighting, but also take days to extinguish the fire.

"Because KM Mitra Usaha 05 is bringing its name to Diesel Fuel, so our initial handling is important. We can suppress the loss with the right handling," said Sinulingga.

Since reporting the flames by residents at 11.38 WIB, the fire was successfully extinguished in less than an hour.
