JAKARTA - A man was beaten by a mob as a result of breaking into a charity box at the Taqwa Mosque, Kuruak Kubang Putih, Agam Regency, West Sumatra. The police who arrived at the location finally arrested the perpetrator

"The perpetrator then entered the mosque, because he didn't come out, the witness felt suspicious and tried to look inside and found the man was prying into a charity box", he said.

The witness then reported to the management and residents around the mosque until the perpetrator was arrested and then beaten by angry residents.

Police personnel from the Banuhampu Police, and Bukittinggi Police, who received this information, immediately went to the scene of the incident.

"When the Banuhampu Police personnel arrived at the scene the residents had secured the incident. He had bruises on his face due to the mob's anger at the perpetrator's actions", he said.

The perpetrator was immediately secured by personnel from the anger of the residents and then taken to the nearest health centre for treatment of his wounds.

"After receiving treatment, the perpetrators along with the charity box and cash totaling approximately IDR 1.2 million, we took them to the Banuhampu Police Headquarters for further investigation", he closed.
