Potential For Extreme Weather, Residents Of South Jakarta Asked To Be Aware Of Floods Today

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) estimates that extreme rain will hit the South Jakarta (Jaksel) area today, Friday 20 January.

Residents are asked to be vigilant regarding the threat of flooding due to heavy rain accompanied by lightning which has the potential to fall in South Jakarta.

"Be aware of flooding in the South Jakarta area," wrote the BMKG's official website, Friday, January 20, reported by Antara.

BMKG issued an early warning regarding flooding in the South Jakarta area and the potential for thunderstorms in other areas in DKI.

Even so, the BMKG did not specify the areas in South Jakarta that have the potential for flooding.

Meanwhile, the BMKG predicts that the weather in DKI Jakarta in the morning will be cloudy throughout the Jakarta area, except for moderate rain in the Thousand Islands.

Entering the afternoon, the weather is expected to change, namely West Jakarta, South Jakarta, and East Jakarta are expected to rain thunder.

Central Jakarta and North Jakarta are forecast for light rain and the Seribu Islands are forecast for cloudy skies.

"Be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds of short duration in the regions of South Jakarta, West Jakarta, East Jakarta, North Jakarta, and Central Jakarta in the afternoon and evening," the BMKG added.

Meanwhile, from night to early morning, most of the weather in DKI Jakarta is expected to be cloudy.

Meanwhile, the air temperature in DKI Jakarta is estimated to be in the range of 23 to 28 degrees Celsius.

The humidity level is estimated to be in the range of 80-95 percent.
