TOBA Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak inaugurated 50 clean water sources in the Toba area, North Tapanuli, on Friday, September 20. This program is part of the TNI AD's efforts to support the welfare of the local community and the agricultural sector.
The inauguration took place in Tarabunga Village, Tampahan District, Toba Regency, which was attended by regional officials, community leaders, and local residents. The Army Chief of Staff was accompanied by the General Chairperson of Persit Kartika Chandra Kirana, Mrs. Uli Simanjuntak, in his speech emphasized the importance of accessing clean water to improve the quality of life of the community.
"The existence of these 50 clean water sources is expected to improve the welfare of the community, especially in terms of sanitation and agriculture. In Toba, this is only the first step. The Indonesian Army has built around 2,700 clean water sources in various parts of Indonesia," said General Maruli in a written statement received by VOI.

In addition to inaugurating clean water sources, the Army Chief of Staff also reviewed the operation of the pontoon boat carrying garbage used to clean the hyacinth in Lake Toba. The Indonesian Army handed over three units of pontoon boats to the local government of Toba, Samosir, and Simalungun to support environmental rehabilitation and maintain the cleanliness of Lake Toba.
"Requests for assistance for environmental rehabilitation come from various regions such as Jatiluhur, Manado, and Lake Toba. Our members worked hard to transport garbage, until we finally innovated to create this pontoon boat. Hopefully, this innovation can be continued by the local government to protect the environment," explained the Army Chief of Staff.
In addition to pontoon boats, Army Chief of Staff General Maruli also handed over nutritious food assistance, compassion for warakawuri, and sports equipment. This is a form of TNI AD's attention to the welfare of the community and support for infrastructure development which has a direct impact on people's lives and environmental conservation.
