President Jokowi Scheduled to Attend the EU-ASEAN Summit in Belgium

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo is scheduled to attend the EU-ASEAN Commemorative Summit in Brussels, Belgium, on Wednesday, December 14.

This was stated by the Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media of the Presidential Secretariat, Bey Machmudin.

The EU-ASEAN Commemorative Summit is the first summit between European Union (EU) leaders and member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to mark 45 years of diplomatic relations between the two government organizations.

European Council President Charles Michel and ASEAN 2022 Chair Cambodian Prime Minister (PM) Hun Sen are scheduled to chair together at the EU-ASEAN Summit in Brussels.

The summit is an opportunity to reaffirm the commitment of the EU and its member states to the EU-ASEAN strategic partnership.

In addition, the Summit will also offer a political forum for the EU and ASEAN to demonstrate their shared commitment to a rules-based international order, respect for international law, and the promotion of effective multilateralism. The leaders are expected to issue a joint statement at the end of the Summit.

Meanwhile, on Friday, Jokowi is still holding a series of wedding procession events for his third son, Kaseang Pangarep, with Erina Gudono in Surakarta, Central Java, and Yogyakarta, until Sunday, December 12.
